About the Homestead Hurricanes

For more than 50 years, the Homestead Hurricanes have been much more than a swim team—they have been an important part of the Homestead community and a tradition that brings families together year after year.

One of the things that makes living in Homestead so special is the strong sense of community, and the Hurricanes are a wonderful reflection of that spirit. Generations of Homestead families have grown up on the pool deck, cheering from the stands, volunteering at meets, sharing traditions, and making lifelong friendships. From our front-tent traditions and team cheers to Monday Fundays, Tuesday and Saturday meets, and countless hours of volunteer service, the Hurricanes create a sense of belonging that extends far beyond swimming.

At the heart of the Hurricanes is a love of swimming and a place for every swimmer to grow. Our team welcomes swimmers of all abilities—from young and novice swimmers learning the fundamentals and building confidence, to experienced competitors who aspire to reach the highest levels of the sport. Over the years, the Hurricanes have helped provide the foundation for swimmers who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, including NCAA Division I swimming.

While we are proud of our tradition of excellence in the pool, our greatest success is measured by the people our program helps develop. We strive to teach hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of supporting one another. Our swimmers learn that being a Hurricane means showing up for your teammates, celebrating each other's successes, encouraging one another through challenges, and representing Homestead with pride.

With more than 50 years of history and more than 40 RMSL championships, the Homestead Hurricanes have built a legacy of excellence while remaining grounded in what matters most: community, tradition, family, and the love of swimming.

The Hurricanes are a place where young swimmers become confident athletes, teammates become lifelong friends, and families become part of something bigger than themselves.

That is what makes the Homestead Hurricanes—and the Homestead community—so special.
